Playful Pluto is a Mickey Mouse animated short film. Directed by Burton Gillett, created in 1932 and released on March 3, 1934, Playful Pluto is a classic of its sort. Even though the plot seems to be relatively simple such that Mickey is trying to do some yard work while Pluto is playing around the garden, this sequence demonstrates how Disney artists could take a simple situation and build on it in such a way that humor arose directly from the personality of the character.

Pluto is one of the first cartoon characters that is shown to have thought processes through the use of character animation. The dog's thought processes are showcased in Playful Pluto when Pluto becomes stuck to a piece of fly paper, and attempts to figure out a way to get himself unstuck.
