Information icon4
This page documents an official Animation Wiki policy.
It is a widely accepted standard that should normally be followed by all editors.

This page outlines how to cite and add references to articles. References are very important for providing support, clarification and verification to pages.

When and why to cite[]

References should be included in an article when support or clarification is needed on a subject matter. This is to provide proof that it is right and can be verified.

Where to cite[]

References should be added in the character/real person biographies, media appearances, and trivia sections or wherever else it’s needed. For sections such as plot summary, cast, international, release dates, those don’t necessarily need citations as the information can be easily found.

Where to get information from[]

Appropriate[]

  • Official website
  • News & media outlets (i.e. Variety, Deadline Hollywood, Collider)

Not appropriate[]

  • Internet Movie Database (IMDb)
  • Fan sites & blogs (i.e. Famous Birthdays)
  • Other wikis or resource sites (i.e. Disney Wiki, Encyclopedia SpongeBobia, Wikipedia. However, you can use them to find other references)
