This is the general notability guidelines on the Animation Wiki.
General guidelines[]
What is considered notable? Generally, notable entities, films, TV series, characters, or topics are well-known. They are covered in the media, whether it be in the news, in articles, and more.
- All subjects that have an article/page dedicated to them on the Animation Wiki must...
- Be well-covered by reliable sources
- Be discussed directly and with much detail in the media
- Be referenced or addressed by sources independent of the subject
Keep in mind that these are base guidelines, and special cases may need to be handled separately. Some of these "special" cases are covered below.
Special cases[]
Television series[]
Anime articles are strictly not allowed on this wiki in general, but some of them are exempted in special cases:
Films[]
As mention above, articles related to Japanese anime films are prohibited, but some of them can be exempted in special cases:
- Like above, if the film is highly popular (i.e. My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away)
- If it can be significantly be covered on this wiki
Voice actors/actresses[]
Articles about voice actors and voice actresses must have at least one major role on any animated series or film. If a voice actor has all minor roles, at least three (3) of them are enough to have their own article.
Characters[]
Articles about the following characters are not allowed:
- Minor characters in any episode of an animated series, or a film
- Characters who originated from a video game or a book
- Characters who originated in comics (i.e. Spider-Man, Charlie Brown, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) are allowed on this wiki, as long as they have different incarnations or iterations.
Non-notable content will be deleted![]
Even if a page or logo follows the base guidelines, administrators still have the right to delete a page if there is no evidence to indicate its notability. To prevent such incidents from occurring, it is recommended that you create a sources section in your page, or cite sources within the text of the page.
If you are here because you are suspicious of a page's notability, you may also want to visit our criteria for deletion. This provides more information on what pages qualify for deletion and how to go about tagging a page for deletion.
