The Animation Wiki is a wiki about animated shows and movies. formally launched on August 19, 2022.
History[]
This wiki was created on February 3, 2006 under the original name "Wikicartoon". On December 15, 2009, the original Animation Wiki was closed, and was merged into the "Cartoon Wiki". On May 23, 2019, Wikicartoon had expected changes like more focus on history of animation, until 2021, due to vandalism. On August 19, 2022, the site was adopted and readopted the Animation Wiki name.
On January 30, 2024, the wiki rolled out a refreshed identity using gradients and UI interface. A new logo was also introduced, with thicker and spaced-out "AW" letters.
Logo[]
The logo depicts an "AW" monogram in a circle.
On November 1, 2022, the colors of the logo got brighter to fit in with mobile theming.
The Animation Wiki changes their default logo to a stylized one with relevance to a certain date or event, or to commemorate an upcoming release of an animated film, show, event, etc. In 2023, the Animation Wiki will adopt a "Mickey head" logo to honor Disney's 100th anniversary.
